Content Creators Summit

As we approach Feb. 5, we are reminded of the great things we can accomplish when we come together. This summit is more than just an event on technology or social media it's about building bridges. As society becomes more secularized, the list of challenges our church will face continues to grow. I think, the solution is to be creative in our approach to ministry.

According to PEW Research, the majority of Gen Z continue to share their religious affiliation with their parents.1 What's so different about this is that while they do attend church, they don't do it the same way their parents have. Young people are moving away from traditional forms of doing church. This isn't wrong, it's just different.

While this summit is open for all ages, most of it's elements are designed by young people, for young people. This does not mean only young people are invited, all ages are encouraged to attend to witness and support youth initiatives in the church today. But remember, this isn't just about supporting youth, it's about building bridges. Technology, gaming, social media in and of themselves are not bad. What makes anything bad includes it's purpose, what end does it meet, and whether it damages your relationship with God

If you remember at least twelve years ago when Facebook was beginning to gain popularity, we were warned against such "distractions." Since the pandemic, churches have now been dependant on platforms like Facebook, Youtube, etc to meet their goals. Some video games are bad, the ideals they teach, the images shown, and their philisophy. The list goes on. One game doesn't make gaming bad just like one video doesn't make Youtube evil.

With this summit, we are meeting people where they are, whether that is in a physical or digital space.

I am reminded by the words of Paul in 1 Cor. 9:22,

"I have become all things to all people, that by all means I might save some."

Paul inferred the importance of understanding others so he can "become all things." Christ met the people where they were. He was constatly headed to areas many religious leaders thought were taboo, or unclean. He does this not only to show that the love of God knows no borders, but so that he might save some. With this summit, we are meeting people where they are, whether that is in a physical or digital space.

If you have not registered you only have a few more days left. There is now an online option avaialbe to those not able to attend in person. Sign ups can be done here;
